Anne Burrell

Anne W. Burrell was a television personality, a ex-chef at the Institute of Culinary Education and previously taught cooking. She is the host of Food Network's Secrets of a Restaurant Chef as well as the host of Worst Cooks in America. Anne Burrell, a Food Network host with spiky blond locks and a lively appearance, shares tips on how to prepare restaurant-style meals at home, using easy methods. Chef Burrell has worked in several of the most prestigious restaurants within New York, studied the culinary landscape and traditions of Italy as well as competed in the Food Network's Iron Chef America. Burrell, who grew up in New York State's Upstate, developed an early passion for cooking. The Culinary Institute of America was the next step for her after she graduated with an Associate of Arts degree in English as well as Communications from Canisius College Buffalo NY. The Culinary Institute of America was a wonderful opportunity for me. It was difficult to master and do enough or put in the hours. When I graduated at the Italian Culinary Institute for Foreigners, Chef Burrell took a full year in Italy learning and working in La Taverna del Lupo restaurant located in Umbria and La Bottega del 30 one Michelin star restaurant in Tuscany. It was during this time that her experience in Italy has helped her understand and appreciate Italian philosophy and culture, and this has left an impact on her own perception of food. Burrell served as a member of the Garden of Dreams Foundation Advisory Board to improve the lives of children who face problems. Burrell is also an Juvenile Research Foundation celebrity ambassador where she advocates for awareness of juvenile diabetes. As a guest speaker and mentor Burrell travels throughout the United States to discuss her culinary passion and professional career. Anne has always been grateful she had the opportunity to share her love of sharing her cooking skills with other people.
